MALAYAN NAVY SERVICE
Officer Appointed From City
A Christchurch man, Lieutenant C. J. Carl, has been appointed by the New Zealand Naval Board to serve on loan with the Royal Malayan Navy. A former pupil of Christ’s College, Lieutenant Carl who is 29, joined the Navy in 1952 and is at present serving in H.M.N.Z.S. Tarnaki, the naval training establishment. Accompanied by his family, he will leave New Zealand early next year and will be, overseas for two years. The Royal Malayan Navy has only recently been formed and arrangements have been made for New Zealand naval officers to serve on loan until it develops its own officer corps.
