Statue Plastered With Paint
Chrietehureh police ere trying to find out who plastered red paint over the statue of William Sefton Moorhouse in the Botanic Gardens on Tuesday night. The face and hands were coated with red enamel, and the words. ’What Did He See Last Night,” roughly printed in 4in letters, nearly filled one panel of the statue's base. “A most disgusting affair,” said toe Director of Parks and Reserves (Mr H. G Gilpin) when asked to comment He said he had “an idea” who was responsible, and had asked the police to investigate.
Grant Fire?—One unit from the Central station extinguished a grata fire at the comer of Avonside drive and Retreat road shortly after 4 pjn. yesterday. W ■
