SPECIAL STAMPS

First Flight Of Comet (NZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Mar. 28. , Special date stamps will be used to cancel covers carried on the inaugural AucklandLondon air service which will begin from Auckland on April 6. The Comet airliner service will be operated by 8.0.A.C. by way of Sydney, Darwin, Singapore, Calcutta, Karachi, Beirut and Dusseldorf. The Director of Postal Services, Mr L. T. Heath, said today those wishing to have specially-stamped covers in the mail on the inaugural flight * should forward their stamped addressed envelopes under cover to the Chief Postmaster at Auckland. They should reach him uot later than April 4 and should be clearly marked to show they were to be included in the special mail. Normal overseas airmail rates would apply. Mr Heath said the Post Office was not making provision for the speciallystamped envelopes to be returned to New Zealand addresses. Thus, all covers sent for inclusion in the mail would have to bear an overseas address.
