Hutt Valley Asks N.Z. For “Realistic Reply”
(Neto Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Mar. 27. Hutt Valley tennis officials are unhappy with the attitude of the Canterbury and New Zealand associations on an incident involving a Hutt Valley player, Miss E. Cavaye, in the national girls' under 19 singles final at Christchurch on January 26. When Miss Cavaye was leading in the first set of this match the referee went on to the court and spoke to her about behaviour. Her concentration and confidence were said to have been broken, and she was beaten decisively
In a statement today, the preaident of the Hutt Valley association (Mr L. B. Mitchell) said his management committee had met again to discuss the matter. "Tlie Hutt Valley association is by no means satisfied with the reply from the Canterbury association, which says the matter is now at an official New Zealand level. "We are by no means satisfied with the reply from the New Zealand association and its endeavour virtually to hush up the matter. “A further letter will be sent to the New Zealand association. from which the Hutt association expects a realistic reply,” Mr Mitchell said.
