Sequel To Fatal Road Accident
(NZ. Press Association) OAMARU, Mar. 26. A 22-year-old school teacher, Denis Dalby Shields, of Timaru, was fined £75, and disqualified from driving for two years, when he appeared before Mr N. M. Izard, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Oamaru today charged with negligent driving causing death. Shields pleaded guilty. Shields’ truck collided with a car driven by Alan Johnson McDonald, of Dunedin, in January, and McDonald’s wife later died of injuries. Senior Sergeant F. A. Leadley told the Court that Shields’ vehicle was on the wrong side of the road when the collision occurred.
