Help Given By Guides

The Girl Guides’ Association had taken part, nationally, in a number of service efforts during the last year, said the chief commissioner (Miss R. Herrick) in a report to the annual Dominion council meeting held at guide headquarters in Christchurch recently. "We are members of the Freedom from Hunger Campaign and to date more than £3OO has been donated,” she said. “Through their international fund contributions, brownies and guides gave £5OO towards the maintenance of a day nursery in Hong Kong.” Much practical help had been given throughout the Dominion by collecting and sorting clothes for C.0.RJ5.0., helping in hospitals and in homes.

“Annually. in October, gundes and adults show their appreciation of help given by ministers of various denominations by assisting with rebinding hymn books, weeding church grounds—in fact doing anything .hat is required.” Miss Herrick said.
