NOVEL SET IN CITY

Sixth Book By Grace Phipps The sixth novel by the Christchurch author, Grace Phipps, has been published, and will be released in New Zealand within the next few weeks. The novel, called “A Nurse Like Kate,” is set in Christchurch, and is the first in which Mrs Phipps has used a hospital background for a story. “My daughter was a nurse for some years, and this gave me the idea,” Mrs Phipps said last evening. Mrs Phipps said it took her a year to write a book. “I try to make definite times for writing, but that does not always work out," she said. “Not that I mind interruptions. I can pick up the thread of what I was writing as soon as I sit down again, and I find that a short break often stimulates my mind.” A request to have the book translated into Braille has already been made. Mrs Phipps said she has another book “on the stocks.” “It is going to be set in Hamner, and though not a ‘who-dun-it,’ it is going to have an element of suspense in it,” she said.
