U.S. Antarctic Base Closing The United State® Navy’s Antarctic advance headquarters alt Harewood is now virtually closed for the season. Admiini&traitive details are being completed and some advance preparations for next season are being made. About 125 servicemen remain. but after the last of the United States Air Force Boeing 7O7's leave on March 31, only 30 or 40 men will be left. They will maintain essential services during the winter.
The commander of the Navy Antarctic task force ■ Rear-Admiinail J. R. Reedy) is at present completing local plans for next season. He will leave Christchurch by air with his family for the United States about April 5.
