Bees And Cancer

Sir,—l was most interested in “BJLP.’s” letter on bees and cancer. When I was a rung child, 50 odd years ago, was paid 3d a bee—or Id if I caught too many. These bees were released on my grandmother’s window. She was almost crippled with rheumatism and swollen joints. Granny then caught the bees, one at a time, by the wings, and pressed them on to the aching joint which immediately received a sting By the time I was 20 she could walk quite well and the pain and swelling bad gone. Down through the years I have told this to doctors, but other than, “Oh, yes, the old wives had tots of cures,*’ noone had the brains or interest to take notice. Good luck to Dr. Jarvis in his further investigation. AH farmers in those days kept their few hives, so hooey was plentiful and understood to be good.— Yours, etc, U.W. March 24, 1963.
