WARM DAY IN CITY
The temperature rose to more than 80 degrees in Christchurch yesterday, put the »p figure of 83 degrees at 1 pun. was well below the March record of 90.4 degrees in 1959 The thermometer began to rise early in the day and at 9 a.m. stood at 75 degrees By noon it had risen to 81 degrees and rose to 83 degrees in the next hour. The humidity was 61 per cent at 9 a.m. It dropped during the morning, but rose again at noon to 53 per cent Over the last month the rainfall has been lower than in the previous two years, 1.31 inches of rain having fallen, compared with 1.91 in 1962 and 1.83 in 1961.
