Inside China
Sir,—All those who besides conceding that China to toe largest country In the world consider that with the leveUing-up of technologies she must inevitably become toe greatest, will have been pleased to read the sympathetic letter written by "The Eye of the Beholder.” What caused me to initiate the present correspondence was disgust at the pompous summing up of the journalist, in which he usee such phrases as: “13 years of abusing nature and human nature. “(Mao) seems far out of his depth,” and "I gazed at toe wretchedness of hto Land and its people.” Heavens, toe journalist had barely touched toe fringe of the vast country. The forthcoming Asia week will give us an opportunity to learn more about toe real China. Surely also it would be both kind and sensible for us, a foodproducing country, to engage in massive trade with the largest potential market in the world.—Yr ire, etc., CO6MO6IAN. March 26, 19®.
