STAYED AT HOUSE
Napier Prison Escaper
(N.Z. Press _ Association) NAPIER, Feb. 25. The police this morning received their first real lead in the hunt for Jim Phillip Kahua. who jumped the Napier prison. Wall at 1.20 p.m. yesterday.
About 8.15 a.m. 4 man told.the police that Kahua stayed at a house in Shakepeare. road, Napier, only a few hundred yards from the gaol, till 9 o’clock last nigbt.
Between , the time Kahua escaped and after 9 p.m. yesterday, dozens of police.’ assisted by two police dogs, combed the Napier city area looking for Kahua. A net of road-blocks around Napier was set up within minutes of the escape. -AU vehicles moving away from the city area were stopped, but Kahua was not sighted.
