Clothes Stolen
From Shop
Twelve cases of housebreaking were reported to the Criminal Investigation Branch in Christchurch during the week-end. Houses were . entered in Stanmore road, Armagh street, River road, Barbadoes street, Colombo street, Joyce crescent, Joy street, Linwood avenue, and Aylesford street. Three rooms at the Royal Hotel were entered, and property valued at £45 10s 6d was stolen.
Shirts, jerseys, and other clothing, valued at £65 7s 3d, were stolen when the shop of Doug Nesbitt Mens’ Wear, 153 Armagh street, was broken into between 11.30 a.m. on Saturday and 6.30 am. yesterday. A padlock and another lock on the front door were forced
The garage of Stanmore Motors, Ltd., 261 Stanmore road, was entered after a rear window had been broken on Saturday night, and £5 was stolen. The British Bookshop, in McKenzie’s arcade, was broken into during the weekend, but as far as is known, nothing was stolen. The Innes Road Fish Supply was also entered, but it is not known whether anything was stolen, and the premises of Elizabeth Keetley, Ltd., 95A Cashel street, were entered after a door had been forced, but not!ring was stolen.
