Board Ends Inspection (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. Members of the National Roads Board returned to Wellington on Saturday after a “very informative" threeday tour of inspection of roads and bridges in the South Island. The Minister of Works (Mr Goosman), who is chairman of the board, said the tour enabled the board to understand reading problems and view them on the spot. The board met local body representatives and was conducted on a tour of inspection of completed and proposed works in the Waikawa area, the Queen Charlotte drive, and the work in progress along the CanvastownHavelock section of the Nel-son-Blenheim main highway.
The board had discussions with the Number 11 District Roads Council, and on Thursday the party travelled to Murchison, meeting representatives of local bodies on the way. At Hanmer Springs the Number 13 District Roads Council was met and the party inspected the Seddon-Awa-tere Valley road and the salt works at Lake Grassmere. Mr Goosman said the visit was a routine one.
