The first Negro student at Mississippi University, Mr James Meredith, was received with more tolerance by students of the university when he registered for bis second term this month, said a former student of the university, Miss N. A Wall, who arrived in Auckland today. Miss Wall, who is a graduate of the university, will study New Zealand literature at Otago University on a grant from the United States Educational Foundation.

She was accompanied by Miss M. H- Leder, a graduate of the University of Illinois. who will study health education at the Otago University School of Physical education.
