Consumer Service Topics
Many badly-made garments, which had not worn well, had been submitted to the district committee of the Consumer Service, Mrs W. Grant, a member of the committee, told the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Women. Dr. Helen Thomson had suggested that an article be printed in “Consumer,” on faults to be looked for in garment constructiom, Mrs Grant said. The committee had also been asked to inquire into the possibility of requesting manufacturers to state the full ingredients on the label of household commodities, such as cleaning fluids. The committee had been told that much valuable time had often to be spent in hospitals finding out the ingredients of some proprietary line a child had swallowed before finding the right treatment, Mr* Grant said.
