INQUIRIES AT WINGATUI

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Feb. 24. C. T. Wilson, rider of Vault in the Novice Stakes at Wingatui on Saturday was questioned about the riding of the horse in the last 100 yards. Wilson said that the horse was stopping badly and he did not use his whip because the horse stopped badly under the whip on the first day.

Wilson was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out at tile finish of a race. R. J. Skelton, rider of Otnasong, the beaten favourite in the Dominion Handicap was questioned about a check his mount received within the last half-furtong. Skelton stated that lie was endeavouring to go on the inside of Castle Flight but found there was insufficient room and had to come on the outside.

There was no blame attachable to J. R. Dowling rider of Castle Flight.
