N. CANTERBURY POULTRY CLUB
12 Championships For Annual Show The North Canterbury Poultry Club has been granted permission to hold six New Zealand championships and six South Island championships in conjunction with its annual show at Rangier a on May 24 and 25. This was reported to a meeting of the club in Rangiora by the secretary (Mr B. E. Graham). ■ ■ The championships are:— New Zealand: Utility Plymouth Rock, female; utility Rhode Island Red, male; Khaki Campbell duck; Bantam. old English' game duck wing, female: bantam. Blue Pekin, male; pigeon, tumbler other than self, muff or ba'dhead. South Island: Standard old English game and any other colour; standard Hamburg, any other colour; utility Pekin, duck or drakes; bantam any other colour; Pekin; pigeon black tumbler: pigeon tumbler self, other than black.
Entries for the show will! close on May 4. A special prize will be awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points who freights his birds more than 50 miles. It was decided to do this as a gesture to some of the exhibitors who had been supporting the show from considerable distances Twelve extra classes will be added to the pigeon section and the Canterbury Home Flying Pigeon Club wIH be asked to nominate the classes.
A provisional list of judges for the show has been drawn up and will be confirmed at the next meeting.
