The English Football League’s management committee has produced a plan to “streamline” the league so as to avoid a recurrence of the chaos caused by widespread postponements In this winter’s “freete-up." Their scheme for the “new look” league. which has been submitted to the clubs for cons deration, envisages 100 clubs in five divisions, starting from the 1964-65 season, instead of 92 clubs in four divisions, as at present. All clubs would also take part in a Football League Cup competition, and the season would be extended to the end of May.
