NEW LYNN SEAT
H. G. R. Mason Candidate (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 24. Mr H. G. R. Mason, present member of Parliament for Waitakere, who has been a member of Parliament for 37 years and was a Cabinet Minister for 17 years, will contest the New Lynn seat for the Labour Party at the elections next November.
Mr N. Finch, a well known trade union official, will represent Labour in the Tamaki electorate.
The two selections were announced in Auckland today. New Lynn, a constituency created last year when the rapidly developing Waitakere was cut in two, consists of the densely-populated block around New Lynn borough. In the past it has always been a solid Labour-voting core in the Waitakere seat, which Mr Mason has held for 34 years.
