Tribesmen Injured

Armed riot police were on the alert today in the northeast Kenya township of Garissa where 24 people, including nine policemen, were injured in fierce tribal fighting yesterday. A curfew was Imposed on the town and a Royal Air Force Beverley transport plane flew in police reinforcements.
The fighting broke out between Somali and Tana Riverine tribesmen shortly before a meeting of the Kenya African Democratic Union was due to start. Two shops and a car were damaged in the battle. S.A. Presi Atm.—Copyright) VIRGINIA (Orange Free State), Feb. 21 South Africa's governing National Party retained the seat in a Provincial Council election yesterday with a majority increased from the 1956 election. The National Party candidate defeated the Opposition United Party candidate by 2382 votes. The majority in 1959 was 2066.
