MAJOR STATUS DEFINED
Control Of 150 Graded Players
The definition of a major association as one that controlled 150 graded players, was adopted by the management committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association last evening for discussion at the association’s annual meeting. Major associations under the new definition would be Canterbury,- Auckland, Waikato Manawatu, Wairarapa, Wellington. Otago and Hawke’s Bay. Minor associations which were defined as associations, with less than 150 graded players, included Ashburton, Gore, Bay of Plenty, Nelson Horowhenua. Marlborough. North Otago. Poverty Bay, South Canterbury, Southland. Taranaki, Wanganui, West Coast and Whangarei.
On the motion of Mr G. J. Leggat it was decided that where a major association dropoed below 150 players it should be allowed a tolerance of 135 players before it might revert to minor status.
