New Building For Auckland
One of the biggest property sales ever made in Queen street, Auckland, has been negotiated by Mr R. R. Livingstone, of Christchurch, a partner of Livingstone, Jones, Lang and Wootton. The property formerly the Waitemata Hotel site—was sold to the Guardian Assurance Company, Ltd., for an undisclosed amount, but believed to be in the six figure group. Mr Livingstone said yesterday it was one of the biggest property transactions ever effected in Queen street. The Guardian company will erect an 11-stoney airconditioned building on the site and work is expected to start about the middle of next year.
The company is a 141-year-oM firm which has traded
in New Zealand for nearly a century. Its assets exceed £239 million.
The company’s present Auckland offices—and New Zealand head office—are in Shortiand street, Auckland. The whole of the new building’s ground floor frontage on Queen street and Darbv street will be Shops. The building was designed by Lewis Walker, Hillary and Company.
