HOT DAY IN CITY
Temperature Of 89 Degrees
A maximum temperature <rf 89 degrees made yesterday the hottest day in Cbrtetchurch this month. The aver, age humidity was 35 per cent
Light frocks were the order' of the day for women in the city, and most men removed their coats and rolled up their sleeves. Business was brisk in shops selling cool drinks. and more persons than usual went to the Centennial Pool in the lunch hour.
The temperature at Harewood rose from 56 degrees at 7 s.m. to 89 degrees after midday. A temperattire of 84 degrees was registered at the Botanic Gardens at midday The humidity was low all day, the minimum reading M Harewood being 28 per cent The weetber for the Royal visit today is expected to be warm and pertly cloudy. A •r-uttierly change is possible this evening.
