Children Miss Getting Jobs

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 14.

Because they had been unsuccessful in securing suitable employment in the city at least 100 children had had to return to echool this year, said Mr W. J. H. Clark. Auckland vocational guidance officer, today. Another 100, who bad left school, were still seeking work, he said. Most of the children had failed to get employment in the trade or profession of their choice because of lack of qualification. Employers were demanding higher qualifications and many children had fallen short of the standard required. said Mr Clark. There also seemed to be a shortage of jobs in the city. Mr Clark said some children had brought problem* on to themselves by waiting until February before applying for jobs.

Gift Of flags.—The Canterbury Hotels Association has provided flags for all children of the Cerebral Palsy School to wave when the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh arrive on Saturday These children will have a reserved space at the corner of Fitzgerald avenue and Worcester street during the dnve to Lancaster Park.
