Royal Programme For Week-end In City
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are due in Christchurch at 11.45 aan. tomorrow, arriving at the Christchurch international airport by a National Airways Corporation Viscount. The Royal visitors’ programme is:—
TOMORROW 1-130 am. Leave by car for Lancaster Park, travelling via Memorial avenue, Fendalton road, Harper avenue, Bealey avenue, Fitzgerald avenue. Ferry road, Lancaster street and Stevens
street. 1230 p.m. Arrive Lancaster Park. School children from all parts of Canterbury and the West Coast will be gathered, and the Mayor (Mr G. Manning) will welcome Her Majesty to the city. 1.10 p.m. Leave Lancaster Park by car for the United Service Hotel, travelling via Stevens street, Lancaster street. Ferry road, High street. Colombo street and
Cathedral square. 135 p.m. Arrive at hotel for private luncheon. 235 p.m. Leave by car for Riccarton racecourse, travelling via Cathedral square, Worcester street, Oxford terrace, Riccarton avenue, Riccarton road, Yaldhurst road. Racecourse road. 2.50 p.m. Arrive at racecourse for Canterbury Jockey Club’s Royal meeting. Returning from the racecourse, the Royal party will travel via Racecourse road, Epsom road, Blenheim road, Deans avenue, Moorhouse
avenue, Bagley avenue, Oxford terrace, Worcester street and the Square. 730 pm. Dine privately at the hotel. 9 pm. Ceremonial drive to King Edward Barracks, via the Square, Colombo street. High street and Cashel street. 9.10 p.m. Arrive at Barracks foe Royal choral and orchestral concert beginning at 9.15 pm. The Queen will return to her hotel via Cashel street, Colombo street and the Square. SUNDAY Her Majesty's programme for Sqnday is:— 10.55 am. Walk to the Christchurch Cathedral for Divine service. Noon. Return to hotel for lunch.
230 pm. Ceremonial drive to the Botanic Gardens, via the Square and Worcester street. 236 pm. Arrive gardens, for inspection, planting of
tree and viewing of floral set pieces.
4 pm. Ceremonial drive back to hotel, via Worcester street and Square. 8.15 p.m. Ceremonial drive to Winter Garden, travelling via Square, Colombo street and Armagh street, for State farewell dinner.
