City Trees
Sir, —It always puzzles me where such people as “J.S.C," and “Save, Not Slay” are when it comes to my letters on Hagley Park trees; to mention only a few: November, 1959; January, March, November, 1961: February, 1962. Perhaps it is because, as I mentioned in my letter of November 4, 1961, I am part of the familiarity which breeds contempt, for having visited each and all of the trees in Rolleston avenue, and actually taken photographs of the old amputation sockets all going to ruin and destruction. But may I point out that there are plenty of people, including press photographers, with high-class •'holographic equipment far above anything I can afford. But, unfortunately, those others invariably turn the other cheek, begrudging the effort involved.— Yours, etc., R. M. THOMSON. February 12, 1963.
