HORSE WITH TROUBLES
Evidence At Inquiry
(TUB. Press Asm. —Copyright) SYDNEY, February 13. A surprised official, having just heard evidence before a stewards’ inquiry into the running of Summer Storm at Canterbury today, said: "I hope the horse can’t read about this or there’ll be a libel action."
Offering an explanation of the horse’s performance, its trainer, T. Kennedy, told the stewards: “He’s soft mouthed and duck-footed.
“He’s been fired on both knees and the poor devil is going through a transition period. “He's rattle-headed and snaky at the barrier and I almost sacked him at one time. “He’s young and green. “We’ve got our troubles and the horse has his. “All I hope is that the owner, Mrs O’Farrell, is patient enough to stick to Summer Storm.”
The horse, ridden by C. Clare, had come second by five lengths to Hubble Bubble in the First Maiden Stakes.
Before the race he had "blown” in the betting from 9/1 to 8/1. After two adjournments, toe stewards exonerated the
parties connected with the horse.
