There was a record number of entries in the annual vintage and veteran motorcycle rally at the Tai Tapu Domain on Saturday. Twenty-nine machines paraded. There was considerable

It is conducted by the motor-cycle I section of the Canterbury I branch of the Vintage Car , Club of New Zealand. ’ Machines came from as far north as Masterton and as far south as Invercargill. The oldest entry was a 3J , horsepower Vindec Special, ’ believed by its owner, Mr I. Happer, of Dunsandel, to be ! the only one of its kind still .in existence. Excellently maintained, the Vindec was j shown at the Christchurch . Exhibition in 1906, and still [ performs perfectly. Other makes of machine , taking part included Tri- . urnph, Zenith, F.N., Rover, 5 Harley, Indian, and King j Dick. The rally included a course of 231 miles. Vintage machines were allowed two hours,

and veteran machines two hours and a half to complete the course. Racing models were allowed an hour. With a number of other machines being restored and growing public interest, the club expects to hold a larger motor-cycle rally next year.
