WEATHER IN JANUARY

Lincoln College Report

Apart from some overcast arid wet weather eariy in the month, conditions were warm and sunny during January, according to the monthly weather report from Lincoln College. Although sunshine was above, and rainfall below, the monthly averages, they were not significant departures. The grass minimum temperautre on January 25 was 31 degrees, and the manmnawn temperature was 93.9 degrees on January 7. The principal farming activity of the month was harvesting, but cool nights, a

preponderance of north-east winds. and lack of northwesterlies reduced harvesting hours and made snail seed harvesting rather protracted. There were 251.7 hours of sunshine compared with the January average of 213.2. Rainfall totaled 1.78 inches —almost half an inch below the average.
