HERCULES IN ANTARCTICA
Largest Tonnage Ever Flown
When the current American operational season in the Antarctic ends, the United States Navy's ski-equipped Hercules aircraft of VXB Squadron will have carried more than 5000 tons of equipment, the largest tonnage ever carried by aircraft to inland stations in Antarctica This season United States Air Force Globemasters
carried 1700 tons—6oo tons between Christchurch and McMurdo. and a little more than 1100 teas to inland stations.
Last season the four Hercules used carried 4300 tons of cargo. That season was the first in which these planes were used throughout
