SUSPENSION OF RIDER
Term Extended By Fortnight (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, January 31. The Riccarton jockey, D. N. Hadfield, who is already under a term of suspension, to February 9, after an incident at the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting, was further suspended from February 9 to February 22 by the Dunedin district committee today. The committee was considering a penalty imposed on Hadfield by the Kurow Jockey Club, which suspended him until January 19.
An official release from the Dunedin district committee i said: ‘‘Acting under rule 98 (2) (c) of the Rules of Racing, the Dunedin district committee revised the decision of the judicial committee of toe Kurow Jockey Club, which suspended D. N. Hadfield for 14 days to 5 p.m. on January 19 on a charge of misconduct The charge was laid under rule 88 for striking J. D. Pankhurst with his whip after the horses had passed the winning post in the Novice Stakes at the Kurow meeting on January 5. “The Dunedin district committee reviewed the evidence and heard the persons concerned, the stipendiary steward, Mr J. McCulloch, who attended the Kurow meeting, and the jockeys, Hadfield and Pankhurst. * “The committee resolved to surpend Hadfield from 5 p.m. on February 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, February 22. Those present at the meeting were Messrs R. C. B. Greenslade (chairman), E. H. Aubrey, J. E. Brunton, R. W. P. Cameron, W. L. Cunningham, R. A Lawson, J. C. Muirhead. D. D. McPherson, D. M. Reid, T. K. S. Sidey, and R. W. Wflson.”
Rapido’s Trip To UA
The champion colt, Rapido, which was sold at auction in Wellington last week tor 15,000 guineas, will leave Auckland on Saturday in the Cap Ortega! He is to be flown from Honolulu to California.
The brood-mare Florida, the dam of Tulloch, is travelling in the same vassal.
