(NJ). Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 31. The chairman of the now defunct Ross Sea committee (Mr C. M. Bowden) today emphatically denied that Sir Edmund Hillary’s dash across the Antarctic to the South Pole embarrassed the committee. or that the committee rebuffed him for his action. “There was no embarrassment caused to the Ross Sea Committee by Hillary’s action,” Mr Bowden said. “We wanted to ensure that whatever he did would be in conformity with the duty of ensuring a safe passage for Dr. Fuchs’s party. "The committee had every confidence thait he would not overtook that obligation.”
