FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—An anti-cyclone centred near the Chatham Islands extends a ridge of high pressure over northern and central New Zealand. A depression over the south Tasman Sea is moving south-eastwards. Forecast:—

Marlborough and Nelson.—Northerly winds, strong at times about Cook Strait, otherwise moderate; partly cloudy and warm. Outlook: partly cloudy in central Marlborough and about the Kaikoura coast, elsewhere cloudy with some scattered showers about the hills. Canterbuiy.—Moderate variable winds, northeasterlies predominating about the coast; cloudy and warm. Outlook: cloudy with scattered showers. Buller and Westland.—Moderate northerly or westerly winds, fresh in some exposed places; cloudy and mild with some occasional showers in Westland and isolated showers in Buller. Outlook occasional ram or showers.
