Smuggling Bid Fails
(N.ZP.A.-Rtuttr--Copyrtght) COLOMBO. The customs have foiled an attempt by an importer to smuggle £15,000 worth of synthetic diamonds from Czechoslovakia. There is a ban on the importing of synthetic gems, ahd the importer, in an endeavour to get past the customs, had described the packages as containing glass beads worth only £2250. The entire consignment of 44 cases has been confiscated pending a full investigation.
