MOBILE PUB
Bags Of Beer For Africans (NJtJ*A.-aeidor) JOHANNESBURG. Mobile public-houses will shortly sell Kaffir beer in Roodepoort, Mr J. S. du Toit, manager of the town’s Non-European Affairs Department, announced. This is a new and revolutionary move in the liquor trade. The Town Council has received permission from the Bantu Affairs Commissioner to sell Bantu beer Tram two 50ft lorries, he said. The terries win dispense the beer from various sites in Roodepoort and some in factory areas but most in African rasMential areas.
Mr du Toit mill the main reason for ths “pub on wheels" ides was that the cheapness ot the beer m»ds it necessary to sell huge quantities daily to cover overheads.
Last year the Roodepoort Non-European Affairs De* partment piouerrad ths sale of Kaffir beer in plastic bags. Since then, the world patent has been applied for for the bag, which contains a special esugie valve for excess gases.
