AUCKLAND, Jan. 30. Some New Zealand artists of considerable merit did not know the value of their own
work, mid the director of the Elam School of Fine Arts (Professor P. J. Beadle) at the closing of the art and design school The school is organised annually by the Auckland Adult Education Centre and was this year held at Avondale College. All too often New Zealand artists were doing their work too cheaply, said Professor Beadle. They did not have any idea how much to ask. As the amateur develops, he needs to take on and assume the manner of a professional." The lack ot professionalism in New Zealand had retarded art considerably, said Professor Beadle.
