Lostalon a member of J. W. Panichursts team, enhanced his prospects in the Oreti Hack Handicap at Winton on Saturday when he recorded a most attractive trial at Wingatui this morning.
Ridden by M. J. Turnbull, Lostalon led two open class horses. Sudd El Nd (J. R. Dowling) and Dalmain (R. Wilder), over a mile on the inside grass. He was not headed and ran the last five furlongs in Imin ssee.
Lostalon was a winner at the Kurow meeting early In the month, and is in the right order to make another successful bid. On the same track Silver Kingdom (G. Mee) and Sir Athol JJ. D. Pankhurst) were together in Msec, the opening furlong in 12 3-ssec. One of the best efforts on the plough was that of Stormai (J. R. Dowling), which ran the first two furlongs in a shade under zSsec. and completed five furlongs tn Imin fcec. This Sabaean mare, which is trained by D. P. Wilson for Mrs T. K. Sidey, has failed to live up to her attractive blood-lines. She is a candidate for the Lochlel Senior Hack Handicap. Irrepressible (J. R. Dowling), which is to resume racing at the Gore meeting, ran five furlongs in Imin 7sec. Warfare, which has been entered for the £3009 Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at the Canterbury Jockey Club's Royal meeting on February IS. was given at easy gallop in Imin Msec. Solus iR. A.
