Next U.S. Space Trip Date
(U2PJL.~Rtuttr— Copyright) CAPE CANAVERAL, January 27.
The next United States space flight around the earth, by Major Leroy Gordon Cooper jun., will probably take place on April 2. United Press International said it had learned that the flight could last even longer than a day.
Tentative plans are to send the 35-year-old Air Force major 22 times around the world—a flight that would take 34 hours.
This is nearly four times further than any United States astronaut has ever flown in space. At the minimum, space officials hope to keep him aloft 24 hours.
