Rowing CHRISTCHURCH REGATTA

103 Entries For

Saturday

A total of 103 entries from 13 clubs have been received by the Christchurch Regatta Club for the regatta which will be held at Charter!* Bay on Saturday. The Christchurch Rowing Regatta was not held last season and both the number of entries and number of clubs competing show a slight increase on those for 1961. This year, youths’ races have been omitted, thus reducing the number of events from 16 to 13. All will be rowed over a mile course. Three of the dubs, Petone, Star, and Wellington, are from the North Island. Six are from Canterbury, one from Nelson, and three from Marlborough. Field* are heaviest in the four-oared events with novice.

junior and maiden dam fours. Each has drawn 11 entries. Six crews are competing in the senior fours, and nine in the light-weight fours.

Provided there are no scratchings, the strongest class numerically is the senior, with 33 crews. The maiden has 29, and junior 19.
