FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT I Situation.—An anti-cyclone covers the North Island and a complex frontal system is approaching the south of the South Island. Forecast:— Canterbury.—North-westerlies, strong in some exposed inland places; rain developing in the Alps, and probably a change to moderate to fresh southwest winds with rain spreading from the south elsewhere later to the day; cooler temperatures with the wind change. Outlook: unsettled. Marlborough and Nelson.—North-westerly winds, strong about the Sounds; partly cloudy; mild day temperatures. Outlook: unsettled. Buller and Westland.—Moderate westerly or northerly winds; cloudy in the south; becoming cloudy in, Buller during the day; rain spreading north during the day; mild temperatures. Outlook: showers.
