WESTPORT SHAKEN
Short, Sharp Earthquake
(From Our Own Reporter)
WESTPORT, Jan. 27.
Westport had its sharpest earthquake shock in the last four months at 7.43 p.m. today. Residents were alarmed at the sudden and heavy jolt, and some rushed out of doors. The shock proved to be a short but severe one.
Light fittings shook and crockery rattled, but there were no reports of any damage. It was the third shock felt this year, the others being very light. As with most of the major earthquakes felt last year, after the big shock in May, it was apparently confined to the Westport area and was only lightly felt in the surrounding districts.
