Marching BRIGADIERS WIN
Best N.Z. Junr. Team Tears of joy rolled from the eyes of members of the Brigadiers (Auckland) team as they paraded" before Mrs W. I. McKay, wife of the Dominion president to receive their trophy and medals after being judged the champion junior marching team of New Zealand at English Park on Saturday afternoon. Miss G. Kerr was overwhelmed when she was announced the national champion leader. As well. Brigadiers also won the aggregate, gaining the lowest deductions over all sections of the championships. Their nearest rivals were Mosgiel Kilties, who were 37 points behind. The other Auckland team competing. Southern Shamrocks, also had its share of success when it finished second to Zodiac (South Canterbury) in the display march. Thirteen teams from Auckland to Otago took part in marching of a high standard. Mosgiel Kilties marched well for second but they were no match for the Auckland combination and lost by 44 points. Miss J. Thorn, the leader of this team, was runner-up as champion leader. Forest Lake (Waikato) won the costume section and a greater honour went to this team when Miss M. Leach took the award as champion marker. Zodiac failed in the march but its display was very spectacular and rewarded it with the display trophy. Results were Champion team, Brigadiers (Auckland); runner-up, Mosgiel Kilties (Otago); third, Putaruru Starlights (Waikato); champion leader, Miss G. Kerr (Brigadiers); runner-up, Miss J. Thom (Mosgiel Kilties) display. Zodiac (South Canterbury) runners-up. Southern Shamrocks (Auckland),
aggregate. Brigadiers; champion marker, Miss M. Leach (Forest Lake, Waikato) runner-up, Miss R. Garland (Brigadiers).
