Behaviour At Fire
Sir, —If there is such a thing as vulgar curiosity, it was well exemplified on Monday, A little before midday, there was a pretty serious fire in a two-storeyed house in Haan road. The firemen arrived and appeared to be dealing with the outbreak most efficiently, but their efforts were not assisted by ’ the horde of children, some old enough to know better, : who swarmed up the drive all round a fire-engine and hoses, and seemed to pay not ' the least attention to the exhortations of the firemen to ■ get out of the way. Fortunately, after a while, the police arrived and dealt with : the situation as one expects • them to.—Yours, etc., ' M. TREW. January 25, 1963. i
