(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, Jan. 27.
A car's petrol tank exploded and it was gutted by fire after the vehicle had overturned on a shingle road, at Hadlow. near Timaru, about 4.45 pun. on Saturday. The driver, Julian Hawes, aged 17, son of Dr. S. C. Hawes, of Timaru, suffered bad cuts to a hand.
He was taken to Timaru by a passing motorist.
Meanwhile the explosion blew in the rear end of the car and set it on fire. The police found the car gutted
