English Park was the venue for a variety entertainment yesterday afternoon when cycling, woodchopping and marching were held.
The cycling and chopping provided good entertainment as did toe displays by marching teams. Keen competition was wen in the cycling event, and the chopping was of a very high In toe marching nt 2 gav * an exhibition of . New Zeeland senior march plan and also the AusP ian - h» Men* this team will be going to Australia to compete. The highlight of the chopping XJ’Jbe te «n* event between Cheviot and Chrtetchurch. Six chopper, repreranted each district in three standing and three underhand chops. It was neck and neck over the final stage,, but the lari Cheviot log hit the ground a split second before toe Christchurch log, to give Cheviot the win. Results were:— Cycling ..9°? L»P Handicap.—J.
