Taylor, the Auckland selector and former New Zealand player, was the feature of the one-day matches in senior Auckland club cricket on Saturday. The outstanding feature of Wellington senior cricket yesterday was a power-packed innings of 159 from the former Plunket 'shield batsman, D. S. St John. Playing for University, St. John hammered the Onslow attack in scoring his runs in just more than three hours. A feature of the innings was his driving—all seven of his sixes came from straight hits. The knock was largely responsible for his team’s firstinnings win. Two other outstanding players yesterday were members of the Midland side which beat St. Pat’s. D. Yeoman, playing in his second senior game scored 91, and fast bowler N. ‘A. Huxford took seven for 38. Johnny Moyes Dead (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, January 20. The Australian cricket commentator, Mr A. G. (Johnnie) Moyes, died at his home in Sydney on Friday night, aged 70.

Mr Moyes had just returnc i from broadcasting a description of the New South Wales versus South Australia Sheffield Shield cricket match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He was the author of 12 books cm cricket and was a former Australian inter-state cricketer and journalist. He had been awarded the M.BE. for services to sport.
