EASY VICTORY FOR KERR
Jamaican Not Extended (N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, Dec. 16. G. Kerr, of Jamaica, won easing uip from tihe Auckland runners, J. Taylor and W. Weaver, in an invitation 440 yards at McLean park, Napier, on Satanday. Kerr's 28.2 sec for the distance was good time on • wet track, but he never seemed fully extended. The quainter-milens were three of six visitors for wthom the meeting was hastily arranged late last week. The others were W. Clayton (Jamaica), H. Van Der Wol (Canada) and L. Croxon (Auckland). Croxon won the long jump from Clayton, wfho was third in the event at the Perth Games, by one inch, with a jump of 22ft lOJdn. A steeplechase specialist, Van Der Wol ran an impressive Imin 52.25ec for f 880 yards, buit later could » not pick up Napier’s two junior mile stains, A. Curtis and R. Weston, in a mile race ’after giving them 60 yards start. Van Der Woi gained about 20 yards but Curtis won in 4min 14.2 sec.
