E.F.C.A. NOT IN FAVOUR
Will Report For Work (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. December 5 The Engine-Drivers. Firemen and Cleaners' Association was not in favour of the 48-hour strike, the national president (Mr A C Munro) said in Auckland this afternoon “We have informed the A S R.S of our attitude.” he said “We have protested to the Government about its intention to repeal section 103 of the Railways Act, but we do not consider the situation serious enough to warrant a national strike. “We think that something much more serious is needed before we can contemplate such a disruption as this.” Mr Munro said that the association would instruct all its members to report for work as usual. “Of course,” he said, "we will also tell our men that they must not do w’ork which would normally be handled by A.S.R.S. members."
