University To Play Cashmere
The strong University men’s lawn tennis team will meet last year s winner of .the senior competition, Cashmere, in the third round at the United club’s courts this morning. The other matches will be North Linwood v. United, Woolston v. Edgeware, and Elmwood v. Barrington. The top women’s team, Cashmere, has a bye. Matches in the women’s competition at Wilding Park this afternoon will be Shirley v. Fendalton and Avonside v. United.
The Shirley team has withdrawn from the men's senior reserve competition, leaving seven teams. Those drawn to play against Shirley will now have byes—today, Edgeware; December 8, University; and December 15. Linwood Avenue.
Life Members (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Nov. 29. Mr H. S. Wilkinson, Wellington. was elected a life-member of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association at tonight’s council meeting. Mr H. K. Palmer, of Wellington, was elected to fill a vacancy on the association’s management committee.
